Digital Automotive Ad Effectivness

By j_brennan + April 30th, 2009

A recent article in AutoReMarketing Magazine discussed the effectiveness for using contextual and behavioral ads to increase your online effectiveness.

This article will be helpful for manufacturers and Tier II, but little can by used by Tier III advertisers.

The article reinforces that advertising works!  Fuel effeciency and value messages can have a positive imapct on “intent”, but the down side is the article does not show that value translating to click or visit to a dealers website and ultimate sale.

Many in the digital space neglect that 100% of all auto sales occur … Continue Reading

Advertising CPM

By j_brennan + April 24th, 2009

icon_atsignAccording to a good article from eMarketer and data from Credit Suisse the CPM’s for online advertising are all over the place.

You can also glean from this article that it’s no wonder that Google is in sound financial shape with paid search CPM of $75+ where as Yahoo, who is experiencing growing pains, can only boast average CPM’s of $2.23.

Cable’s New Frontier :: Addressable Ads

By j_brennan + April 24th, 2009

icon_monitorI was sent a great article by a co-worker from E-Commerce News. (Thanks Keith)

The story shared an example of Behavioral Targeting’s (BT) holy grail.  The example “knew”:

  • a consumers interest – a new Ford Mustang
  • his viewing habits – John Stewart’s Daily Show
  • as well as the consumers physical address

The example continued that an ad for the Mustang would pop-up during the Daily Show and when engaged the consumer would receive a brochure via US Mail.
The Upside

Cash for Clunkers Near?

By j_brennan + April 24th, 2009

icon_small_question-markIt looks like the “cash-for-clunkers” program could be making it’s way out of committee and passed into law in a few months.

Turns out the opponents are facing a legal battle relating to world-trade laws.  In other words, some wanted the program to ONLY work for the Detroit three (actually applying discount to vehicles “manufactured in North America”).

I did a search for “vehicles manufactured in North America” and could not find a list of what vehicles qualified.  Obviously leading auto makers outside of Detroit will benefit as well.

QUESTION – Will this continued … Continue Reading

Build an iPhone App?

By j_brennan + April 20th, 2009

A recent article in Adweek brought to light the costs of building a mobile app.

icon_articlesMy questions…are ad dollars are best utilized in building apps or sponsorship of them.  The article points out that unless your are in the “Top 25″ your app is a hole in cyberspace.  In fact, Apple get 250 app a day – that 90,000 apps a year.

I contend that ad dollars would be better utilized in sponsorship of two kinds of apps.
Pick your favorite horse (or two)
Put you money behind … Continue Reading
