Social Media Spending Increases for B2B

By steveo + March 18th, 2010

Not to be left out of the Social Media explosion, B2B marketers are planning on increasing their Social Media advertising and marketing dollars.

Recent studies by Forrester, HubSpot, Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, the American Marketing Association and Outsell reveal some very interesting facts and figures pertaining to B2B marketers and Social Media…

Marketing spending on social networking sites by B2B marketers is predicted to rise 43.3% for 2010

Spending will almost double over the next five years–going from $2.3 billion in 2009 to $4.8 billion in 2014 on Social Media

And asked to rate the effectiveness of specific social media sites in their marketing efforts…

  • More than one-half of respondents said that Facebook was “extremely” or “somewhat” effective
  • 45% said the same of LinkedIn
  • And just 35% considered Twitter effective

Additionally…

  • B2B product marketers spent an average of 3.4% of their marketing budgets on social media in February 2010
  • B2B services marketers were spending 6.5%

It’s obvious Social Media is here and it’s here to stay. And while we don’t consider ourselves Social Media experts because, quite frankly, no one is at this point, every day we learn more and more about Social Media and how to best utilize it.
