Nexus One. iPhone, zero.

Google just unveiled a Smartphone that will knock the socks off of your mobile internet.

Nexus One is Google’s smooth push for more consumer products.

It’s about as light as a Swiss army knife and uses a Qualcomm processor. The 3.7-inch, touch-screen display has deep contrasts with a color-changing track ball that changes color when you receive a message.

Cable TV, Online?

icon_monitorA recent article in the WSJ shared some statistics on cable consumption and how more people are using their cable’s high speed Internet connect to consume “traditional” TV.

According the the author, in 2008 some 900,000 US home chose Web TV only.  Not impressed with 0.5% of the US population?  Did you know that 8% of TV viewers watch at least one show online per week, up from 6% in 2008? Broadband Stimulus Is Job Stimulus Too

Stanford University economist Paul Romer’s observation that “a crisis is a terrible thing to waste” could be a rallying cry for past and present efforts to revive the economy and create jobs by bringing critical technology to Americans who need it.

In 1935 the crisis was the Great Depression and the critical technology was electricity. In 2009, the crisis is what’s being called “the Hurricane Katrina” of recessions and the technology is broadband Internet service.
