Google Chrome’s Ad Sparks Interests

Google’s ad campaign seems to be sparking both numbers and curiosity. The chart shows UK’s Internet searches for Google Chrome which have almost doubled over the last couple of weeks. Currently running at their third highest level since the browser was launched towards the end of last summer.

First Half Web Ad Spending Down 5.3%

icon_arrowsU.S. advertisers spent $10.9 billion on Internet ads in the first half of 2009, a 5.3% decline from the same period last year, the Interactive Advertising Bureau said Monday.

Search advertising continued to represent the largest percentage of overall interactive ad spending, with search revenues reaching more than $5.1 billion in the half of 2009, up slightly from that same period in 2008, the group said in a report produced with PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Online Ad Spends Grow

Online ad spending forecasts put digital spending at 17% of total US ad spending in 2010, up from 15.4% this year and 13.9% in 2008.

Reports predict 4% growth in US online ad spending in 2009, to $22.77 billion. Growth will ramp up to 7% next year. Worldwide, online spending is expected to climb 9% in 2009, returning to double-digit growth in 2010.
