While many folks go to Facebook for discounts, research indicates that they prefer email—and that email is more effective.
Lots of companies use deals and discounts as a way of encouraging Facebook and Twitter engagement, and, unsurprisingly, research shows that such offers are a primary reason that social networkers follow those brands.

Digital video advertising is grabbing an increasingly larger share of the online market. Recent studies estimate that online video advertising will increase by 38.6% in 2011. Although one study estimates that most advertisers will spend less that one-quarter of their online display budget on digital video advertising this year, most will be increasing their digital video ad spend in the next twelve months.
Good old banner ads are not going away. The Interactive Advertising Bureau reports that spending on such ads has increased significantly.
