  • Over 300,000 businesses have a presence on Facebook and roughly a 1/3 of these are small businesses.
  • Gary Vaynerchuk grew his family business from $4 million to $50 million using social media. Gary’s eccentric personality and offbeat oenophile knowledge have proven a natural path to success with his Wine TV Library.
  • Vaynerchuk found first hand that $15,000 in Direct Mail = 200 new customers, $7,500 Billboard = 300 new customers, $0 Twitter = 1,800 new customers.

  • Q&A: Understanding Social Commerce

    By g_press + October 29th, 2009

icon_groups1Q:  Why do people like to follow a brand on its Facebook fan page?

A:  That answer depends on the retailer you’re talking about and how they use the platform. This is an interesting challenge for retailers, too. Because of the kind of communications and messaging you’re talking about, social media demands a very intense, thoughtful plan and approach in terms of what we call brand.

And not all of them have been good at this.  A company like Best Buy kind of breaks the mold. Zappos certainly does. Target does. Some of … Continue Reading

Why Your Dealership Should Be on Facebook

    By g_press + October 22nd, 2009

icon_usersYour dealership may not have any plans to create a Facebook campaign, but, the fact is, your competitors are already planning to take advantage of what Facebook has to offer. Consider that right now you can order a pizza on Pizza Hut’s Facebook page; Volkswagen will tell you which car is most suited to your personality based on your personal profile on Facebook; and Coca Cola and Starbucks each have almost four million fans waiting to see their next wall post.

By developing special applications and offering expanded services, these successful brands … Continue Reading

    By j_brennan + October 22nd, 2009

icon_wordbubblesThe number of Twitterers is growing quickly, per a Pew Internet Project report released Oct. 21st 2009. The report states that 19 percent of all U.S. Internet users now use either Twitter or smaller services, such as Yammer, to share social updates. This was up 8 percent from the 11 percent who used such services in April 2009. Twitter and other status services were most popular among those 18-24.
    Two questions:

    1. From where do you tweet?  At home or Mobile?

    2. Do you consider a wall post (facebook or alike) a “status … Continue Reading

facebooked_momCapturing a user’s attention is one thing, but keeping that user on your site is a whole other issue.  Facebook seems to have mastered this by keeping their users occupied on their site for long periods of time. With 87 million visitors and an average of 4 hours and 39 minutes spent on the site, Facebook is quickly rising to the top of all web brands in the world.

The Key to Reaching Baby Boomers Online

    By j_brennan + June 24th, 2009

It’s a long standing tenet of modern marketing:  where Baby Boomers go, advertisers follow.  At 76 million and counting, the Boomer demographic (those born in the post-war boom between 1946 and ’64) does after all compromise the majority of consumers in this country.  So why are less and less resources being used to target Boomers online?

A huge misconception is that as internet spending increases, reaching out to … Continue Reading
